Overview |

 |
 |
 | Jill & Rupert Richardson (not to mention our dog and two cats...) look forward to welcoming you to this lovely, comfortable Victorian house with its delightful gardens, which was recently recognised as the Bed & Breakfast of the Year, at the North EastTourism Awards 2011. As a small, high-quality bed and breakfast establishment, we aim to provide a comfortable, welcoming - and peaceful - home for you to enjoy; and we do GREAT breakfasts! - full of local produce.
As a recent, regular, guest put it: “Jill & Rupert at Dowfold House are a class act. They offer bed and breakfasting in grand style, but somehow make it friendly and intimate.” Jill & Rupert Richardson (not to mention our dog and two cats...) look forward to welcoming you to this lovely, comfortable Victorian house with its delightful gardens, which was recently recognised as the Bed & Breakfast of the Year, at the North EastTourism Awards 2011. As a recent, regular, guest put it: “Jill & Rupert at Dowfold House are a class act. They offer bed and breakfasting in grand style, but somehow make it friendly and intimate.” | | Our rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, all with ensuite facilities, while our home & gardens offer plenty of opportunity for relaxation - or wickedly competitive croquet! Guests love it here. We're proud of our Bed & Breakfast's green credentials, but intensely aware we need to do more. "Green, but without the hair shirt" is our motto. | | And, from Dowfold House Bed & Breakfast, there's plenty to do. From railway rides to walks & cycle rides; from gardens to more strenuous pursuits. There's something for everyone.
Dowfold House Bed & Breakfast is in a quiet location overlooking Crook, with stunning views over Weardale as far as the North Pennines. We welcome business visitors, tourers, cyclists, walkers, dogs, horses [NEW] and children. People just keep coming back! | | Crook is an ideal, peaceful, place to stay when visiting the North East of England. The City of Durham is a 20 minute drive away and our Bed & Breakfast accommodation is close to the A68, a major route to and from Scotland.
Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and the Durham Coast are all within easy reach of our Bed & Breakfast accommodation, while Crook acts as a gateway to the Durham Dales (Weardale, Teesdale) and the North Pennines. |

Payment Information |
 |
 |
 |
 | Rate details: Per room per night; 1st night payable as deposit | | Available Discounts: 2 nights or more; £5/night discount | | Deposit requested prior to arrival: After confirming your reservation, you will be contacted by Dowfold House Bed and Breakfast. | | Additional charges: A charge may be incurred for extra persons in a room. | | Credit cards accepted on location: Visa Visa Electron MasterCard PayPal | | Cancellation policy: (booking payments are non-refundable, unless specified otherwise) We are a small establishment, with just three bedrooms, able to accommodate up to six people per night. This means that cancellations can have a big impact, both on us and on those whom we turn away in favour of someone who has already booked, and who then cancels at the last minute. We don’t think kind thoughts about such people!
We do, however, appreciate that unforeseen circumstances can intervene, and we try to be as sympathetic as possible in such cases.
For cancellations made within 72 hours of the start date of the booking we will expect a cancellation fee of one night's tariff per room booked, or the deposit paid, whichever is the greater.
If you simply do not turn up, nor let us know that you are not coming, and we have confirmed the booking to you, either in writing or via email, then the full price of the booking will be payable.
Where possible and reasonable, however, we will always do our best to accommodate our guests’ changing needs.
Please be ready to pay the balance on departure by cash or cheque made out to "Dowfold House". If this is not convenient, and you would rather pay by credit card, we recommend you pay for your whole stay using the "Pay online" facility HERE.
Please note that we prefer you to check in at 5pm or later, unless otherwise arranged. Once you're checked in, you can of course come and go as you please.
It would help if, on the day of departure, you can clear your room by 11:00. You are welcome to continue to use the sitting room and garden. |
